Sauna-related content featuring Explore with Kati

As part of my Authorized Helsinki Guide studies, I will be designing a sauna-themed, specialized guided walking tour in Helsinki as my competence demonstration. In preparation for this, I started compiling a list of publications where my sauna knowledge has been featured in.

• The Intrepid List - 100 uncommon experiences to change the way you travel

  • Book, 2024

  • An article written by me about sauna and ice swimming in the Nordic countries was published in a book by Intrepid Travel (a global travel company focused on responsible travel).

• Breaking Waves – Discovery, Healing and Inspiration in the Open Water – Emma Simpson

  • Book, 2025

  • The author interviewed me and published a chapter about my sauna and ice swimming experiences as part of her book about inspiring women who swim in cold waters. We originally met when she attended one of my sauna and ice swimming virtual tours.

• The Guardian – 10 of the best virtual experiences for 2021

  • An Online Article, 2021

  • The online experience that I created for Urban Adventures (part of Intrepid Group) was included on this top ten list with the subtitle: “Join an icy plunge in Helsinki”.

  • This online community for German-speaking audiences interested in the Nordic countries was active during the COVID-19 pandemic. I wrote an article about Finnish saunas and published live videos featuring different kinds of saunas in Helsinki.
